Mine Tour creates a cross-border link between two cities, which are connected by a common mining past. Technical mining heritage in Labin is supplemented with natural mining heritage in Litija. In this way, visitors can enjoy a rich experience above and below the ground. By visiting both locations, visitors will have the opportunity to learn about the rich cultural, architectural and industrial heritage of the mine in Labin, as well as the natural heritage of the underground parts of the mine in Litija.
The Labin and Litija mines offer a different experience of experiencing the mining heritage. In Labin, the actors and interpreters will take the visitor to the past. Through the stories of the miners, they will learn about their way of life and the historical facts that influenced the creation of this mining town, which is reflected in the rich mining architecture represented by Pijacal with Šoht – the mine tower. In Litija, visitors accompanied by a guide will enter the Sitarjevec mine and discover the secrets of the underground world and experience the mine and the work of miners in an authentic environment. Information on the richness of the natural and cultural heritage of the municipality of Litija as well as on the history of mining will be given by guides in the City Museum.
An unavoidable part of the itinerary is learning about gastronomy then and now. The visitor has the opportunity to taste and experience food as once eaten by miners, of course prepared in a modern way, as well as local dishes prepared according to traditional recipes, served in an original ambience that takes the visitor to mining times.
